Steps On How To Increase Pitching Velocity

By Lela Perkins

In baseball, throwing a good pitch is one of the most important aspects of the game because this will determine whether a team will have the upper hand or not. A good pitch will require a lot of individual muscle movement, concentration, and a lot of knowledge of physics. So if one would one to improve his game a thousand fold, then here are some steps on how to increase pitching velocity.

Now the first thing to do would be to realize that a good pitch will require the entire body to move properly. That is why it is extremely important that the pitcher work on his upper body, his core, and his legs all at the same time. Try to create some tensile muscles by doing a lot of push ups, some abs workouts, and some running in order to strengthen the legs and stamina.

Once one has studied the physics on how to correctly throw a ball, then he can now put it into practice. The first thing that he must do is to get used to throwing with a relaxed body. A tense body will only worsen the throw because being tense will make the body nervous and will not allow a fluid throw.

Aside from the conceptual side of how to pitch, there is also the detailed and technical aspect of it. Now the first detail to take note of would be how the arm is positioned and moved. The arm must be pulled back enough in order to create a swift swinging movement.

After that, he must now concentrate on positioning his torso because this will also contribute to the force of the pitch. So remember to position the body sideways so that when one throws the ball, he will be able to twist the body at the right moment. This will create even more rotational or centrifugal force along with the arms.

The last part to concentrate on would be the force behind the leg power. Now notice that a lot of pitchers would lift their front leg up and quickly stomp on the ground the moment just right before they throw the pitch. The reason why they do this is because stomping on the ground will give the body extra power and thus create some extra force on the ball.

Once one has combined all of these technical and conceptual aspects all together, then it will result in an explosive pitch. So in a nutshell, one must stomp his foot, twist his body, and swing his arm all at the same time. Also, one must also remember to flick his wrist just a second before the pitch in order to give an extra speed booster.

Now take note that all of these movements are done in a single and swift movement. If one would follow these steps, then he would be able to throw a pitch that is both very precise and very fast. As long as one would know how to increase pitching velocity the right way, then he would be able to pitch a good game.
